The Count of Monte Cristo

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Action & Adventure
I first watched this film in UP Film Institute for only 40 pesos. And after watching it, I can only describe it in one word - AMAZING. Compared it with The Red Violin but this one exudes more justice and grandeur. This is an ultimate tale of revenge, a story that transcends generations and time frames.

Based on a classic novel by Alexander Dumas, too bad I can't find time to read the book but viewing the movie is itself already a dramatic experience. It was just so powerful (of course setting aside the title of the film - in Jesus' name), hehehe, I was so overwhelmed with too much emotions during and after watching this film. Imagine all the treachery, lies, dark desires, adventure, love and triumph mixed powerfully in this film, with great actors and 'exquisite' characters, historical french base, political struggle and a lot more.

Though, despite all the drama, the director was able to give it a touch of humor - I love the Count's 'kanang kamay' who dedicated his life in serving Edmund.

A must see film, a total entertainment. Don't miss this!

  1. do read the book. You would even say to yourself, "the movie has not been faithful to the book". The story was really great and deserves admiration, but I guess not the movie itself.

Why so? I've read the book before I watched the movie. sorry.

  2. Im expecting the same disappointments kaya nga ayaw ko basahin book any time soon. ;-) Just loved the movie so much, wanna hang on to its beauty. Besides, you cannot compare the kind of satisfaction you gain from a book and a movie - totally different pieces of work.

  3. i believed you don't always get the same satisfaction, outcome or contentment on movies if you're sticking to what you have read..
like Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.. there were a lot of scenes that was in the book but not shown in the movie.. (which pretty much dissapointed some of my friends who are very LOYAL to the book)..
and not all bookworms (like me) are addicted to movies..
    so i don't really compare..

bottomline? if the movie is better than the book or vice versa.. and you really feel like you got something GOOD to say about it.. share it with your friends.. not to strangers.. advice? shut the hell up.
